Peradon Company History

Peradon Company History

Peradon is widely recognized as the world’s oldest snooker and billiard cue manufacturer, founded in 1885 by Leopold George Peradon in Willesden, London. The company revolutionized cue production by shifting from importing unfinished cues from France to crafting fully finished cues in England, introducing innovations like the hand-spliced cue and later, machine-spliced butts that became industry standards. Early cues were delivered to billiard traders directly by Leopold and his family, establishing the business's personal reputation for quality.

Throughout its history, Peradon absorbed several other key UK cue makers—including Weildings, Nidd's, and MacMorran’s—solidifying its status and expanding production. By the post-war period, Peradon had become the last surviving manufacturer of billiard cues in the Commonwealth, known for creating cues used by legendary players such as Joe Davis and Walter Lindrum. In the late 20th century, Peradon moved its manufacturing operations to Andover and later to Liverpool under E.A. Clare & Son Ltd, where it further expanded product lines and maintained its reputation for premium craftsmanship.

Today, Peradon remains a cornerstone of cue sports, renowned for its high-quality, British-made cues favored by both professionals and enthusiastic amateurs worldwide.
